Dust Blog Tour Stop #5: A #LiveChosen Interview with Kara Swanson
Updated: Sep 23, 2021
Good day, Lost boys and girls!!
I hope you are enjoying Neverland as you adventure through the Dust Blog Tour. (If you find yourself a little turned around or in need of instructions click here.) Keep thinking happy thoughts and I am certain you will beat Captain Hook to the treasure.
On your way I hope you are inspired by a little pixie dust of a different kind...the realization that you are chosen. You! You don't have to be Peter or a pixie to have purpose. Just be you.
On that note, I was so glad to chat with Dust author, Kara Swanson, about living chosen; what it means for her, and for Peter and Claire.
Kara, what does living chosen mean to you?
It means living my life with the intention to extend grace and kindness to everyone around me, being authentic and raw about the ups and downs of my journey, and trying to live to see the beauty in the small things and give God glory with every heartbeat <3
How does writing play into living chosen for you?
I love getting to pour the soul-themes that are close to my heart into my writing through raw characters, and seeing those themes resonate with people.
Do the characters in Dust feel they have purpose?
Yes. Claire’s purpose is to find her brother (though she has to grow to find her own personal purpose) and Peter’s purpose is to get back to Neverland and rescue his island.
How does their “purpose” shape their choices?
They’re both willing to do anything to get what they feel they need. Including lying to each other and the others around them. But those lies will eventually catch up.
What advice would you give to someone trying to find their purpose or live chosen?
Don’t stop asking questions and searching for truth. Especially when it comes to faith-- God can handle our questions. He can take our searching and fear and frustrations and anger. Get to know the one who gives our lives hope, and you might just find there is purpose beyond your wildest dreams.
Psst! Here's a little secret. The keyword for this post is: more
The truth about Neverland is far more dangerous than a fairy tale.
Claire Kenton believes the world is too dark for magic to be real--since her twin brother was stolen away as a child. Now Claire's desperate search points to London... and a boy who shouldn't exist.
Peter Pan is having a beastly time getting back to Neverland. Grounded in London and hunted by his own Lost Boys, Peter searches for the last hope of restoring his crumbling island: a lass with magic in her veins.
The girl who fears her own destiny is on a collision course with the boy who never wanted to grow up. The truth behind this fairy tale is about to unravel everything Claire thought she knew about Peter Pan--and herself.
